The important details, close by.
Offline should start with useful things you can rely on: saving a note, finding a detail and keeping track of a task. MyInstinct’s Android beta starts there, with local generative help added when the phone can run it.
Saved memory starts with your choice
Save the exact fact you want to keep, such as “My bike insurance expires on 18 November.” Ordinary conversation is not silently turned into saved memory. The app lets you review, correct or forget a saved item. Keep the original detail precise so it is useful later.
Search first, then read the source
Memory search can match keywords on the device. An optional local search pack adds semantic retrieval. Explicit memory questions return the original saved excerpts with their source, rather than waiting for a language model to rewrite the answer. This helps preserve dates, numbers and names exactly as saved.
Local generation depends on the phone
Model setup checks the device and available packs. Memory, storage, supported hardware, battery and temperature can affect what runs. A larger model is not automatically a better experience on a smaller phone. When generation is unavailable, local notes, saved details and tasks remain the starting point.
What still needs a connection?
App download, initial sign-in and model-pack downloads need connectivity. Recovering or renewing sign-in may also need a connection. Fetching new email or calendar data and interacting with an online service need that service to be reachable. Offline memory cannot know about changes it has not received.
A useful first test
After setup, save a harmless test note with a date. Search for it, check the exact excerpt, close and reopen the app, then repeat with the network disabled. Use a non-sensitive test first. Your result on your own phone matters more than the size of a model on a specification sheet.
A few useful answers
Does offline mean every feature works without internet?
No. Local notes, saved memory retrieval and tasks are different from online integrations. Initial setup and some sign-in recovery need internet. Local generation requires a compatible phone and completed setup.
Does the web playground run a model on my phone?
No. The public web playground uses authored interactive examples. The Android app has separate local model setup.
Is saved memory automatically sent to a cloud model?
Explicit memory searches run locally and return saved sources. Cloud-provider settings are separate from that retrieval path.
